It happens rarely, and this time is gonna blow your mind pretty much. it's the OPEN STUDIOS party for the MFA students at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. You'll get to see who's pretty much gonna own the art world in a few years, not to mention meet alot of people, drink alot of booze, eat alot of cheese and crackers, dance to really good music provided by us and The Bings (we're gonna be DJing it) with a few other bands TBA. There's gonna be over 30 artists opening up their studios to the public so come come come because it's gonna be the most fun this season forreals! FYI, there's also gonna be some performance pieces as well as a whole lot of shennanigans going on after hours (if you know what we mean) so go! here it is:

In other news, here's some painters that we love:

Tomoo Gokita is the new artist from Japan who is giving us eyegasms right now with his wonderfully strange black and white paintings of everything from women wrestlers to porn stars (weird ones) to still lifes. he's pretty fantastic and by the time you read this his work will probably have tripled in price. such a relief from the buzz and stereotype of the 'superflat' style that has branded japan in the art market. A breath of fresh air indeed:

and of course.....Karen Kilimnik gets us every time:

soooo good. *sigh* paint, materiality at it's finest. *sigh*
